City of Dreams
City of Dreams was launched in September 2018, aiming to earn NewcastleGateshead a reputation as the “best place to be young” through engagement of children and young people (aged 0-25) in cultural and creative activity.
Lasting 10 years, it provides a strategy and action plan for evolving the way cultural organisations enable children and young people's engagement, how they foster agency and support growth of confidence and skills. It is led by NewcatleGateshead Cultural Venues working collaboratively with each other, with thousands of children and young people and a cross-sector alliance of over 50 Champion organisations, from within and stretching beyond the cultural sector and city itself. Together we seek to maximise impact, innovate and catalyse change.
Unique in the UK, City of Dreams is a collective mission of change, rooted in practical activity. It operates through consensus, collaboration and invention, pooling resources and ideas to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
We are a key partners in Our Newcastle Our World and in particular the priority theme of Newcastle as an international city for our children and young people as confident, global citizens.
