Free online conference series for educators continues June-July 2024: Empowering Young People to Change the World

  • Who is it for: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary teachers, Senior Leaders, Pastoral Leaders, Teaching Assistants and support staff and those who work within education and alongside young people

International Newcastle’s CEO, Declan Baharini, spoke at one of the sessions, sharing our experiences of ‘Empowering children and young people through languages, international links and intercultural awareness‘ alongside Education Consultant and languages expert, Crista Hazell. Around 300 educators attended from across the UK and the world. There are three more sessions this month and more in July.

On Wednesday, 19 June, 4pm (UK time), the Global Equality Collective (GEC) takeover will have The GEC’s Nic Ponsford and Kim Rihal chairing the session entitled ‘Delve Deeper into Child-Centred Inclusive Education’ – with guest contributions from:

  • Action Jackson kicking things off with – How to motivate and engage your young people
  • Trevor Benstock – How these AI and VR technologies can help democratise and personalise education
  • Troy Jenkinson – his role as a headteacher turned author using picture books to promote diverse families
  • Jasmine Navarro – Building confidence from the beginning; A student-centred approach
  • Matthew Dicks – presents our joint ‘Bridging the technology divide social value project’ for schools
  • Kari Anson – Being a GEC Member and diversifying curriculum resources, specifically reading spines

On Thursday, 20 June, 4pm (UK time) we are honoured to welcome Rachel Higginson: ‘Finding My Voice-A powerful approach to Oracy and Personal Development’ (45mins) This will be followed by: Malarvilie Krishnasamy: ‘Knife Crime; diversity, pedagogy & empathy’. (45mins) 

#EYP2CtW24 is in its 10 anniversary year and seeks to inform, engage and inspire teachers by providing opportunities to hear from experts, researchers, classroom practitioners, or those with personal stories – CPD you might not normally get within school provision – so we as teachers can empower our young people to change the world (their mindsets, their aspirations, their world view: their local community, or thinking even bigger – make a lasting difference locally, nationally or internationally).
