International Newcastle C.I.C is a not-for-profit social enterprise (Community Interest Company) established in 2012. IN is governed by a Board with public, private, voluntary and community sector and youth representatives. The Board oversees the company’s strategic direction and vision, monitors progress, provides challenge and is responsible for the proper running of the company.
The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board on plans and progress, company business and works with our extensive network of partners to deliver our work programme.

Our Board
International Newcastle’s Board includes members with a wide range of skills, experience and perspectives:
- Company Directors: Professor Jon Reast (CHAIR), Neil Barker, Eric Donjon, Katie Mitford, Adam Richardson and Gerry Hunwick. We are recruiting new Directors from June 2026 to broaden representation following changes to Board membership in 2025-26.
- Observers: Professor John Woodward (Northumbria University), Professor Li Li (Newcastle University) and Councillor Barbara Down (Newcastle City Council)
- Our Chief Executive Officer: Declan Baharini (retiring on 30th June) and from 1st July 2026, Dimitra Boutsioukis.

Complaints process
To file a complaint with International Newcastle, you can follow these steps:
- Contact us: Speak to the Chief Executive Officer to discuss your concerns. If unresolved, escalate to the Board Chair.
- Submit a Complaint: If you cannot resolve the issue with the CEO or Chair, you can submit your complaint in writing via email or post. Include details of the problem and its impact.
- Response Timeline: International Newcastle aims to acknowledge your complaint within 7 working days and resolve it within 4 weeks. If not resolved, you can request a review within a further 4 weeks.
