Applications are open for Newcastle Legacy for 18-25 year olds who live, work or study in Newcastle. Legacy is a FREE programme, taking place in person on the 5 and 6 March, with a 30 minute online introduction before the in-person activity days. This is a huge opportunity to network, learn, and build confidence and skills.
Young people can apply by answering one simple question ‘Tell us why you should be part of Newcastle Legacy?’ They can answer in writing, poetry, video or art.

What is Newcastle Legacy?
This programme is designed to empower young people aged 18-25 living, working or studying in Newcastle. Participation will give them the skills, confidence, voice and agency, to be strong leaders of the future. It gives them the opportunity to connect, learn and work with leaders in the city as well as their peers on the programme.
What will happen during the programme?
- Young people will join a group of up to 100 young people (18-25-year-olds) from across Newcastle, some working, some unemployed, some studying, some campaigning, some volunteering.
- Over two days, they will engage in a vibrant exploration of diverse perspectives within the place they live.
- Discover the richness of experiences that shape us, reflect on their driving forces, and learn to tackle significant challenges by asking impactful questions, enhancing their curiosity as a superpower.
- They will also craft their personal brand and storytelling skills to captivate hearts and minds, navigate the complexities of intergenerational leadership, unlocking transformative change through collaboration.
- At the end of the programme they will share their vision in the interactive Marketplace, presenting their thoughts and blue sky thinking and getting real time feedback from leaders and peers.

The impact of this programme can be seen through the learning in cultural intelligence, the valuable connections made and the tangible actions and outcomes in the city as a result of the participants ideas formed on the programme!
Together they will build social capital to continue to make a positive impact across Newcastle for years to come. This programme is filled with opportunities for young people to join a vibrant community of go-getters and change-makers, discover their purpose, craft their identity, and level up their leadership skills.
Who is organising Newcastle Legacy?
Newcastle Legacy is run by Common Purpose and sponsored by Newcastle College (NCG), Newcastle City Council, Newcastle University, Northumbria University, Northumbrian Water. It running for the sixth time in March.
