International Newcastle is seeking up to three new Company Directors to join our Board and help guide the next chapter of our work supporting Newcastle as a multicultural, inclusive and globally connected city. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who can bring experience, insight or lived experience relating to:
- Newcastle’s diverse language, faith and cultural communities
- Young people’s perspectives (applicants must be aged 18+)

About us
Newcastle is home to a diverse range of international communities and we have worldwide civic, community, business, cultural and investment links.
International Newcastle is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, helping drive and co-ordinate an international relations through an effective partnership approach, Our Newcastle Our World, which builds on everyone’s resources, experience, skills and links to bring social, economic and cultural benefits to the city.
We have had a significant impact over the last eight years and are looking to expand our Board of Directors to help us deliver more opportunities for children and young people in Newcastle.
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with a range of backgrounds and aim for diversity across our Board members, partners and stakeholders. We offer induction to all Board members and additional support is available for individuals without prior board experience.
Whilst board members will be expected to share their particular areas of expertise, the role remains voluntary, advisory and not executive. Our priority theme is Newcastle as an international city for children and young people (0-30) to be confident, global citizens – which is all about empowering them and opening up access to international and intercultural experiences and opportunities and develop skills for their future lives, education and careers.

Timeline for applications and appointments
- Applications: To express interest in joining our Board please email a letter of no more than 2 sides of A4 to our Chief Executive Officer, Dimitra Boutsioukis info@internationalnewcastle.org.uk by noon on Monday 3rd August 2026
- Please tell us why you are interested in the position, how your experience relates to the areas outlined and what qualities you would bring.
- If you would like to have an informal discussion before applying, please contact Dimitra for an informal conversation (zoom appointments will be available up to 17th July) about the organisation, its work and priorities and the role on the Board.
- Shortlist: Applicants will be informed by 5th August about whether they have been shortlisted or not.
- Interviews: Those shortlisted will be asked to have a more in depth conversation with the Chair, CEO or other Board members between 6th and 26th August.
- Decisions to appoint new Directors will be made and applicants informed of the outcome by 4th September.
- Appointments: New Board members will be registered as Directors with Companies House.
- Induction: The new Board members will receive induction between 7th and 11th September.
- Board meeting: New Directors will be invited to attend the next Board meeting on 24th September.
