CISV Great Britain
Founded in 1951 CISV provides a global programme of villages and other activities for children aged 11+.
In the North East we send over 30 children each year on international activities. Our Junior Branch meets monthly and has 65+ participants from across the region. We inspire young people from across the world to live and work peacefully.
The JB Goals describe what JBers hope to achieve by taking part in Junior Branch. In short, what does JB exist to do?
- Building an Inclusive Community
- Developing our Organization
- Advancing Leadership
- Educating By Experience
- Empowering to Reflect and Act
Junior Branch is a global movement because JBs do not act alone but recognize and take part in global initiatives such as supporting the International Day of Peace; JBs are self governing because we strongly value electing our own leaders; JB advances leadership when JBers take charge of running their own activities; JB gives youth the chance to take action and plan their own events and activities, from arranging activities for younger JBers, creating projects for the local community or taking part in international movements.
We host international programmes for youth aged 11+ . These programmes encourage openness and respect towards all people, promote tolerance and understanding of different cultures and attitudes, initiate friendship despite of nationality or beliefs and educate to non-violent conflict solutions
Our global organisation is dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation and understanding. Founded in 1950, today we are a federation of 69 Member Associations with over 200 Chapters or local groups. In over 60 years we have given countless youth the experience of their lives and the opportunity to build lasting friendships through our international educational programmes.
