It is important that schools get involved now in planning for the opportunities available through the Erasmus+ programme. We started our engagement of Newcastle schools this month with a briefing on 11 June and are following up to provide ongoing support for involvement in the Erasmus+ programme.
Schools are asked to complete an Expression of Interest form to help us provide the relevant support and keep you up to date with developments and opportunities.

There is a lot of activity underway to promote the opportunities nationally, led by the EU in partnership with the UK Government and British Council, the national lead for Erasmus+. International Newcastle’s CEO, Dimitra Boutsioukis and Sarah Edgar (Newcastle City Council, School Effectiveness) are involved in national groups to prepare for our schools’ engagement in Erasmus+ and will be providing support to schools, in particular.
We have a strong track record in supporting schools to develop international partnerships and funding for international visits. We want to ensure that we can help schools get ready for Erasmus+ and the many wider opportunities available through this programme. The programme will open for applications in November, with a deadline of February or March 2027 and funding outcomes in June-August 2027 – but action is required now.
