Festival feedback highlights benefits of engagement for schools and pupils

We have had some fantastic feedback from the teachers and schools who took part in the Express Yourself: North East Festival of Languages this year, which International Newcastle was proud to co-ordinate. Here are just some of the comments from the feedback survey.

The comments show how offering a wide range of activities for schools helps teachers to celebrate and promote languages, highlight the talent of pupils and empowers them to share their own languages and cultures. The feedback also shows how engaging in Festival activities helps to widen perspectives and support other objectives, such as opening up discussions about future education and careers choices and supporting pupils with EAL (English as an Additional Language) and work towards School of Sanctuary status.

Thanks to all who participated in the Festival and all those who responded to the survey. International Newcastle is proud to host and co-ordinate the Festival on behalf of partners across the city, region and UK. We hope to run another Festival in 2023 and the feedback will help us to plan ahead.

The winner of the £50 prize for survey respondents was a teacher from Jesmond Park Academy in Newcastle.
