Join the North East Festival of Languages – free activities open now and booking for events in March

International Newcastle is co-ordinating the Festival for the third year. There are so many activities open now for schools, communities and groups to get involved with as part of this year’s North East Festival of Languages. Click here for the full What’s On programme (activities are still being added) and see the summary on the poster and below.

Open from January – get involved now

  • The Big 3’ festival song, Mother Tongue Other Tongue creative writing and Poster competition for 7-18 year olds
  • Wor Seahorse puppet parade for North East participants and national speaking and singing competitions
  • Some of the interactive games and challenges
  • Some of the activities for young learners
  • Free language and culture resources that you can access anytime.

Sign up now for live events in March

Registration is required for a range of events and activities that are happening in March and this is open for most of these – we recommend booking early!

  • For 7-18 year olds and schools, there are free live language taster sessions in a wide range of languages, language and culture workshops, as well as university activities for school language students
  • There are live events for adults and professionals around language related topics and training to improve language learning and teaching
