The German Career Roadshow in Durham offers Y8-13 pupils and university students a multi-faceted programme providing insight into the relevance of German in professional life. Join in a varied programme with exhibition stands, workshops on careers and study opportunities, presentations and a quiz with prizes. The Roadshow will motivate learners and promote German by experiencing first-hand the relevance of German language skills. Registration is required and is open now.
Who should attend
This event is open to schools and individuals in the North East and across the UK. The target group are school pupils from the age of 13-18 and undergraduate university students. You may wish to prioritize year groups which are selecting GCSE or A-Level.
What will happen on the day?
The Roadshow is an information day for career and study opportunities with German to motivate children and young people to understand the relevance of German language skills. It provides a range of activities which explore: what professional opportunities there are if you learn German at school or university; which industries need applicants with German language skills; and how to apply for a job or internship in the German-speaking world.
The programme will include:
- Exhibition stands of German organisations and German/international companies
- Interactive workshops, panel discussions and talks around the topic “Career and study opportunities with German”
- Presentations by companies, young professionals and students
- Information on study opportunities with German
- Quiz with fantastic prizes and much more.
The full roadshow programme and information on travel and logistics will be made available to 1-2 weeks before the roadshow. Workshops will be color-coded to make it clear which age group and level a workshop is aimed at.
