Northumbria University 2023-24 Sanctuary Scholarships available – apply by 28 April

Northumbria University has announced the continuation of the Asylum Seekers Sanctuary Scholarship for those seeking asylum in the UK. There are two types of scholarships available for the academic year 2023-24, beginning in September 2023. Applications must be submitted by 4pm on 28th April 2023 and there is support available for people interested in applying.

Undergraduate Sanctuary Scholarship

This opportunity will award three outstanding students with a £1000 per year contribution towards their studies, as well as a full fee waiver for a wide range of eligible Full-Time Undergraduate courses, beginning in September 2023.

This opportunity will award three outstanding students with a £1000 contribution towards their studies, as well as a full fee waiver for a wide range of eligible Full-Time Masters courses, beginning in September 2023

Support available for applicants

Northumbria University recognises the unique and difficult circumstances students who are seeking asylum and student refugees may experience and the challenges this may create in accessing Higher Education. The university offers a range of pre-entry services through NU Belong to any refugees or students seeking asylum considering university, including application support.

Students seeking asylum who apply and receive an offer to study at Northumbria may be eligible to apply for a Sanctuary Scholarship. For students awarded the Sanctuary Scholarship, the NU Belong support offer continues throughout their studies, to help students feel welcomed and encouraged towards success through education.
