Newcastle schools are asked to save the date for this online event 3.30-5.00pm on 18th October. The event is the first in a series of activities to support our schools to become Schools of Sanctuary.
Becoming a School of Sanctuary is an important way of schools creating a culture of welcome and inclusion for refugees and asylum seekers. This event will share experience from national and local people with experience around Schools of Sanctuary work. Schools can build on what they already do and get support and resources improve their approach and enhance the experience of children and young people and the school community.
The event is supported by both the Newcastle and UK City of Sanctuary. The co-ordinator is Rosie Tapsfield, Active Inclusion Officer at Newcastle City of Sanctuary.Further details will be shared shortly, but there is more information online – click on the links for Newcastle City of Sanctuary and Schools of Sanctuary UK .
We work closely with both the Council and City of Sanctuary and as schools develop their Sanctuary work, International Newcastle will also be sharing opportunities to link in and benefit from our activities around languages and cultures.
