Celebrating World Book Day – free resources, ideas and inspiration to encourage the enjoyment of reading and books

7th March is UNESCO World Book Day, a celebration of books and reading in over 100 countries across the world and across our city.

Newcastle libraries, schools and communities have been celebrating by dressing up, reading and sharing stories exploring the world of books. The Newcastle City Libraries World Book Day competition is open until 10th March and encourages children to design their own front cover for their favourite story. Entry forms are available at libraries in the city or can be handed in to libraries or photos of them emailed to library.childrens@newcastle.gov.uk

There are lots of ways people can be involved, with a whole selection of free activities, resources available to inspire reading and learning in English and other languages, as well as braille, large print and audio.
