15-24 year olds invited to ‘Youth-What we know’ events in March with British Council

The British Council and LSE Consulting would are inviting 14-25 year olds to their upcoming online sessions as part of the Next Generation programme, Youth – What We Know.

There are 3 online sessions focusing on Education and Skills, Local and Global Challenges and Youth Voice (Political and Civic Engagement). In these sessions you will be able to learn more about the findings from the Next Generation research, reflect on existing practice and collaboratively devise recommendations to take forward.

International Newcastle is a member of the national Internationalism Alliance led by British Council which promotes international opportunities, experiences and connections for young people in the UK.

The purpose and focus of sessions

The sessions will involve a diverse range of young people, policy makers and youth organisations from the UK, Europe and the 8 countries of focus: Ethiopia, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nigeria, Poland and Vietnam, in addition to participants from other countries.

The sessions will be facilitated by Pegah Moulana, Advocacy Co-ordinator at Youth and Environment Europe. These sessions will support the 2022 European Year of Youth and will be a global conversation with participants and speakers from around the world.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify challenges and opportunities together
  • Showcase good practice
  • Identify common ground
  • Agree actions for each stakeholder group.

  • Thursday 17th March at 10:00 – 11:30 GMT: Youth Voice – register here.

What will happen in the sessions

Each session will include:

  • A welcome and introduction
  • An overview of the findings from the Next Generation research
  • Youth perspectives on the theme
  • Breakout rooms to identify the challenges and opportunities in light of each group’s needs
  • The development of actionable recommendations to take forward.

Advance information

After you register and prior to the sessions, you will receive a pack containing:

  • A briefing document of key findings from the Next Generation research
  • A detailed agenda
  • A brief questionnaire to understand your current thinking and practice.
