Our partner, QFI, is offering schools the opportunity to apply for the Arabic Afterschool Enrichment Grant programme. This provides support to robust Arabic language programmes for primary and secondary students outside of school hours during the academic year.
Arabic is the most spoken language in Newcastle schools, after English. It is an important world language and understanding Arabic language and culture would bring significant benefits to children and young people. The events we support during the Express Yourself: North East Festival of Languages are testament to the interest there is locally (click here to see the short film of the Welcome to the Arab World event 2025).
