We can all improve how we communicate with others. International Newcastle is hosting and co-ordinating Express Yourself: North East Festival of Languages and has been working with partners to provide a range of events for adults and professionals to get involved with.
During the Festival in March, there are a series of free events and activities on offer to explore how we communicate with each other, with people who are not native-English speakers and in situations where there may be many different languages spoken. This may be in a learning environment, such as a school, college, community or university, or in a professional capacity delivering services, advice or information, or with the wider community.
Click on the events below to find out more and sign up for these activities. We recommend early booking as some events have limited places.
There is also a national conference called UK Lingua, hosted by Durham University, which may be of interest.
This is an event that we are advertising, rather than hosting. The fee is £30 for 1 day and £45 for 2 days. Find out more by clicking on the event.
There are lots of other Festival activities that are all free and focussed mainly on engaging children and young people and celebrating languages, cultures and our connections to the world. Many are live now and the rest are open for registration for participating in during March. Please note that the live events are booking up quickly, so we recommend people book now if they want to get involved.
