Get involved in the Dramebaazi International Arts Festival for the Young with our partners in India: Online 17-25th July

International Newcastle is delighted to be able to share the programme for the Dramebaazi 2021 International Arts Festival for Young. We encourage artists, creative practitioners and young people to get involved in the Festival, which has activities running from 17th July and the main programme of online events and performances from 23-25th July.

The Festival is being run by our new partners in India, The Creative Arts Academy. Click here for information on this new collaboration, which we hope will open up new opportunities for the cultural sector, educators and young people in Newcastle and the region with counterparts in India and lead to creative exchanges and new relationships.

Ramanjit Kaur and Shaili Sathyu are the driving force behind a team of dedicated cultural and education practitioners in India and curate the Dramebaazi International Arts Festival for the Young, which is now in its 4th year. The festival focusses on process-based work to involve the youth community globally as curators, organisers and leaders to develop Arts and Arts leadership.

The theme for Dramebaazi 2021 is ACE: Accept -Change – Express, i.e. to Accept all diversities, Embrace new changes and to let all voices Express themselves.

Due to the pandemic, the festival is entirely online this year and comprises workshops, webinars, performances, screenings and discussion forums. Some events are free and some have a small booking fee (£2-4).

We are thrilled to be working with The Creative Arts Academy and curators of the Dramebaazi International Arts Festival for the Young. Opening up international opportunities and experiences for children and young people – as well as for cultural practitioners and educators – is what International Newcastle is all about. We are really looking forward to the Festival this year and for next year, having lots of involvement around curation, development of activities and events and performances from Newcastle and the region.
