North East Schools’ Competition – My Time Capsule
The European Day of Languages 2021 competition for North East Schools is open to language learners in any Key Stage to create a piece of text in a language or languages they are learning (other than English) on the theme of (My) Time Capsule. A story of your life now to tell to people in 20 years time.

There will be prizes for winners at each Key Stage up to and including KS5. International Newcastle is pleased to be a partner sponsoring a prize again this year as part of our commitment to promoting language learning and cultures (Newcastle City of Languages and Express Yourself NE Festival of Languages – launching for 2022 soon!).
The competition is being organised by our partners at the Association for Language Learning North East and the Network for Languages North East, with support from a range of other partners.
A day to celebrate and a world of resources
European Day of Languages is an annual opportunity to celebrate the languages of the 800 million Europeans who live in the 47 member states of the Council of Europe – including the UK. It is celebrated every 26th September, but this year is the 20th anniversary.
There are activities going on across the 47 countries and lots of resources available to inspire people to learn and discover languages, as well as to appreciate the role languages play in our diverse cultures and heritage.
