Offer to Newcastle Primary Schools to join My Neighbour and Me project

Six Newcastle Primary Schools are being offered the opportunity to join six primaries in County Durham as part of the My Neighbour and Me project, exploring diversity, reflecting on community and thinking about positive personal attitudes.

My Neighbour and Me is a project led by Durham County Council involving Primary Schools in exploring different cultures and the diversity in the region and pupils own attitudes and perspectives.

It is a fun way for pupils to engage in activities which raise awareness and celebrate difference and diversity. It encourages young people to consider and reinforce positive personal attitudes and challenge stereotypes.

We are looking to recruit a number of Newcastle primary schools to work in partnership with schools in County Durham.

This will typically involve two exchanges of pupils’ work before Christmas and another before Easter with a physical meet up taking place around April (social distancing regulations permitting).

The project will allow reflection on community, consider similarities and difference and provoke discussion about diversity and what makes a good neighbour.

The project is ideally suited to Class 5 pupils.
