The Angry Olympics with the Angry Family
This is a series of animated Powerpoint presentations with spoken French and text (with English translation) following the adventures of the Angry Family at the Olympics.
These resources were produced as part of the Linguacast project at Newcastle University’s Language Resource Centre. They are being provided free of charge for use in French teaching and learning (also available in German and Spanish).

How to use the resources
The story is presented in different parts, each in an animated Powerpoint presentation and each exploring different parts of speech and vocabulary.

Still in the pool we find out how to use comparatives and superlatives with lots of vocabulary examples.

The commentator explores the range of emotions and feelings of winner Mrs Angry Carrot. Adjectives, phrases, vocabulary and grammar.

The Angry Family discuss what is happening when – past, present and future vocabulary around time and dates.

In a dream, Mr Angry Potato dreams of visiting all the different sports, recreation and facilities on offer across the Olympic Park.

A disputed race and lots of tension. This episode explores the different kinds of past tense and when they are used.

The winners of the race are announced and we learn about ordinal numbers, e.g. first, second, third.

As the Olympics draws to a close the story’s participants discuss what they ‘would like to do’, ‘would like to be’ and ‘would like to have’.

During a boxing match, we find out lots of expressions and sports phrases, as well as weights and descriptions.
